I have a NAM 4.1 and a MICS 7.0. I have been getting alot of requests for offsite voicemail access.

The best thing I can think of doing right now is directing a line to a set (that no one uses) with a mailbox (just to allow them to get to hit * to get to their mailbox).

This seems a bit clumsy, and I was sure that someone had a more elegant way to allow users to call from home and check their voicemail.

If anyone wanted to share some tips, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Just have them call into the AA, and press ** followed by their extension(mailbox) & password

Do you have DID's? If so create a mailbox and don't assign an extension to it and in Express Messaging, put the Target Line. Make the prime of the Target Line the VM extension.

One problem with the AA - we don't have an automated attendant.

An old policy for the school prohibited using an AA.

And I don't have DIDs.

You on the right track but have AA pickup that line after 0 rings.
You can get fancy and use Table 2 and have a separate greeting to direct employees to press ** to check mail.

If you are going to use a backdoor line, with instructions to the user to access their mailbox, make sure the line/lines aren't in your main hunt group.

you don't have to be in an AA to use the ** to get into a VM. as soon as you hear a greeting from a mailbox you can dial the ** mailbox password # combination and should get into your VM.

i'll be first to admit I never tried not setting an AA at all but it seems like you should still be able to access the VM from another MBOX
