Hello,

There are a couple voicemails on our system that when I hit Feature 983, then go to change mailbox, and put in the extension, it says mailbox not found. However, I can look through the directory and find the user, and his mailbox extension is the exact same one I used previously to search. If I try to add a new extension using the same extension, it says mailbox in use. This causes a problem when users trying to transfer to VM using the extension, they get the cannot find mailbox error. I do not have callpilot and cannot get it. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have not deleted the mailbox and re-added it because I'm not sure if they have any saved voicemails currently.

Try a switch btw 2 phones, let them boot and then bring back te phones at her place maybe it's just a bad voice path.

I'm assuming that we are talking about a Norstar Flash. When you log in with F983 and go to change mailbox it is the MAILBOX number you need to input not the extension number. Are you looking at the directory report which is generated/printed by F983 and then 7? If MB and extension numbers do not match this report is the only way to find the actual MB number associated with an extension. I've seen where a MB has the same number as the extension but is associated with a different ext.

I'll try the switch later today.

I can access 95% of the mailbox's here when I use F983 and change mailbox by using the extension #. The mailbox in question seems to be set up the exact same way, but the only way I can get to it is through the directory. I tried getting to the directory you are talking about ( F983 then 7), but I cannot find it. The directory I am talking about is when you go to F983 then change mailbox and then hit DIR instead of typing in an extension.

He,Phonetech9974, wanted you to hook up a serial printer to the voice mail system and do a print out by preesing 7.

Ok Thanks for the responses, please dont hate me for this question, but what would my voicemail system look like? Is it probably somewhere near the pbx? I don't see anything there with a dialpad to hit 7 on, unless this one thing opens up somehow.

Note also that ext 222 can have mailbox 223 as an example so this maybe what the issue is somewhere.

This helps sometimes:
Do F980 and enter each one and see if you get the correct greeting for that ext.

F980 says Mailbox not Init when I put their extension in. If I go to Directory from F980 and go to their name, it says it correctly.

There you go!!!
The real mailbox is not initialized.

So your ext has a mailbox # that does not match.

You have a Callpilot 100 or 150 voicemail

You can network in with a laptop and see whats going on via internet browser.

Network CP

Curly this guy is looking for a box in the telephone room with a dialpad on it?? I don't think he will be able to connect to the voicemail when he doesn't even know what it looks like. Especially with a laptop...LOL, he's looking for something with a dialpad on it. Sorry but that is just funny.

I had this same trouble last year with a 0x32 and flash voicmail.
Some ext were in the 500 range and some in the 200 range .
I asked about ext 505 and was told it used to be 224 so I put the phone back to ext 224 and then was able to see that mailbox in th voicemail.
It was a wierd problem

Mailboxes don't show up in the directory until they are initialized, unless you are looking on your laptop.
it sounds to me like you have two problems.
one mailbox that is not initialized, and another mailbox that does not match the extension
delete the mailbox and then build a new one that matches the extension.
then figure out which extension does not have a mailbox.
when you figure that out build another new mailbox that matches that set's extension #

Thanks guys for the help. I was able to get into callpilot finally and poke around. Here is a mailbox report, what should I do to fix this?
MB EXT
1876 SUB Wyre,Bruce 2234 1 2 1 0 0 0 0 none
NOGREET

2234 SUB NONAME GUEST 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 none
UNINIT
NONAMEREC
NOGREET

If I deleted mailbox 2234 this will not affect Bruce's mailbox right?

Anyone know how this could of happened? From what I know 1876 or anything near it has ever been an extension on this phone system.

Thanks!

It had no extension- thats why it said GUEST I guess. I just deleted it.

Thanks, one more thing, this is also strange.

When I log into Callpilot using the default password 0000 and it has me create a new password, somehow it changes the feature 983 password from 10020000 to something else because it says invalid password. When I use Feature 985-9-73738767793 to reset the password, I can now log into F983 with 10020000, but the callpilot password changes back to 0000 and when I log into it after changing the PW then I cant log into f983 again. I've tried logging into F983 with the password I created for Callpilot. Any Idea what the F983 password could be changing to?
