Can this be done and is there an avaya engineer help on this?

VM Lite is an Application only. To run as a service you need VM Pro

Fooball is not a matter of life and death-It is far more important!!!!

VM Lite is not supposed to run as a service but there are tricks to make it run as one.

Do a search on here or google "servany"

Of course it is not supported by Avaya so if it doesn't work right, you can't complain to them.

Its no trick just a way to run an app as a service, have done on many sites and works ok, but as above, 3rd party, no support from Avaya if any funny stuff, srvany is a utility thats avaliable on most OS resource kits...or google

Becareful of using it as a service as voicemail to email using MAPI doesn't work unless it runs as an app. Unless someone else has worked it out ?

I am assuming you want it to run as a service so in the event of a system reboot VM Lite will start automatically, not requiring a user to login?

If not, just adding the VM Lite app/shortcut to the Windows Startup folder will start it automatically once a user has been logged into the PC.

You can also add it to your Scheduled Tasks and make it run when the computer starts.

good info there janni78. i never thought to use scheduler for that.

Yes,but Even if we schedule it or run as a service it would still be in "Freeze" mode.Is there a parameter which will turn Voicemail Lite into "Run" Mode?Something like "Vmlite.exe /run"?

There are ways of getting the VMLite app to run as a service as described in previous posts and they do work. But be warned that your distributor and Avaya will not support it if you have any problems! Not surprising really. The simple reason is it's free, if you want something that works as you want it then you pay for it ie VMPro.

Freeze mode only means that the console doesn't show messages of what's happening in Voicemail.

The Voicemail still works as usual.

Run only activates information on the Voicemail console.
