On IP406v2 v 3.2 w/ VMPRO - I want the covering or bridged extension to also show voicemail waiting indicator light (like it would for a hunt group). Adding V(ext) to Source lets me check the covered extension but does not indicate that vmail is waiting. (CEO wants Assistant to see that he has VMail waiting).

There is no PC with either phone. Mailbox is associated with a 5410 onsite while covering extension is on a 5610 remote via VPN offsite. setting up phone manager on an auxillary PC onsite is not really an option.

PM set up on the remote site over the VPN is what I was thinking. That is the user who needs to know there is a VM in a box?

PCs on the remote network only connect via Citrix back to the main site. that's why i was hoping i could program the vmail indicator. i've thought about making him a hunt group but that seems over complicating if there is a way either via VM start point or source number, etc.

I've never tried setting up PM over citrix.

PM over citrix is supported.

Two important points though..........

Up to 360 Phone Manager users can be supported on the same LAN subnet as IP Office. Where remote subnet Phone Manager users are deployed, up to 10 remote users only will receive BLF updates. There are ten unicast session avalable on a first come first server basis for blf updates. This would also apply to the message part of the blf.

Up to 5 Phone Manager users can be supported on a single Citrix thin client server

Very good info, but won't help me here - (will cache it for later use).

This site only has PM Lite. The remote office and home office are in different time zones. There is no PC w/ phone in either office (laptops come and go).

Any other ideas to activate Message Waiting Lamp on 2 extensions for 1 mailbox (not hunt group)?

I think your SOL on the message waiting for an extension on another users phone unless 4.0 has this feature now. I believe it is only supported via a hunt group, especially in 3.2.

What about a text message or outcalling to another number. You could probably outcall to the covering phone to let the admin know.

Figure it out damn-it!

I was saying use the callback feature, which I believe can be set to call the other phone, and still light the original message light.

make the CEO a new extension, then make his old extension a hunt group with his new extension being the only member. then give the assistant a VM button for the group.

????????????

Call back would just annoy everyone else -- these guys are constantly out of the office(s). I've even thought about hot desking the user but i don't want to over complicate this for them (that wouldn't take much).

Sounds like i'm down to a hunt group and he'll just loose his VM button on the 5410. I honestly haven't looked into 4.0 to see if it supports this - that would be an option.

DOESN'T VM PRO HAVE A "COPY" OR "FORWARD MESSAGE TO" FEATURE?

42

Yeah, but i don't want to copy/forward the message. It doesn't matter which extension retrieves it -- but just one box.

the only way is a group with group mailbox

Women and cats can do as they please and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea!

okey doke! thanks all - i'll go the hunt group route since i know that'll work. i appreciate everyone's input.

I have a question about the unicast for Phone Manager if anyone can answer it. What happens if your environment has the IPO on a different VLAN than the PCs with PM deployed? Are you still limited to the number of updates? I would think so since the data VLAN would be in a different subnet and routed through a L3 switch. Seems kind of silly to me - Avaya wants us to be sure to deploy good practices for QoS - so if I have a IPO with all IP sets let's say 100 or more, and sell them PM along with it. Looks like to me if the IPO and IP sets are in their own VLAN, Phone Manager is useless.

You could send an email alert for each user to the person needs to see if tere is a message

You can set the group VM to EM setting to broadcast. Set the multiple users in the hunt group, but one user would be checked in the list, uncheck the other user which will make it not ring when the group is called, yet still send the VM to EM to the broadcast members of the group. You can also put the Hgroupname in the secondary users source numbers to light their MWL as you probably already know.
