Norstar PLUS MICS 1.1 running Norstar VM 2.0.

The problem I am having is after I moved an extension and copied the programming from another phone. I can't assign the mailbox to this extension. I check the NORSTAR VOICE MAIL DIRECTORY NUMBER (DN) FEATURE CODE (Feature 985) it returns Set 242. 242 is the mailbox for the phone I copied.

I have deleted the mailbox I am trying to assign and re-created it. same thing.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

Are you trying to match your extension number to the mailbox number? Because when you do a Feature 985 it will show you what the 1st port of the voicemail is. The extension you are making shouldn't be ext242 as that is the voicemail's extension. Therefore your mailbox shouldn't be 242 either.

I'm not trying to match it. I am just trying to make it active. Mailbox 242 is the mailbox of the extension I copied the programming for the phone. The new extension is 332. I created a mailbox 332 and associated it with extension 332. The extension works right. The mailbox is active, BUT the mailbox doesn't pick up when you don't answer the line -- inside or outside call. I can use the LEAVE MESSAGE feature (Feature 980) and leave a message in the 332 mailbox. It even activates the display telling me the 332 extension has a message. The only problem is, VM won't answer.

If you log into the phone system under Feature **266344
password 266344

if you see Terminals and Sets press the first arrow on the right
then enter the extension number which should be 332 press the first arrow button again, then press the 2nd arrow on the right. You should then see capabilities press the 1st arrow on the right you should then see Fwd no answer press the 1st arrow on the right again and make sure you see forward to 242 then press the only arrow on the right and set your delay up. If when you log in you see configuration press the 2nd arrow on the right you should then see General admin press the 1st arrow on the right then press the 2nd arrow on the right until you see capabilities press the 1st arrow on the right press the 2nn arrow on the right you should then see set abilities press the 1st arrow on right you should then see show set enter the 332 then press the only arrow on the right until you see fwd no answer then press the 1st arrow on right put in the 242 number and press the only arrow on the right and set your delay up. This should fix your problem.

Good luck

ok... I am not sure the software versions are the same. The system I have is a Norstar PLUS MICS 1.1 running Norstar VM 2.0.

I logged into config as instructed but there is not an option for Terminals and Sets. I looked through the programming books and have not found an entry for # of rings and so forth.

Read down to the portion where she says that if you log in and see Configuration do this.........

Thanks... that did it. I guess I learned a lesson. Keep reading.

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

Hello Guys and Gals,
I've just recently found this website, thankfully. I've recently installed MICS 5.0 with Pri and NAM 4.0. The problem that I've got, is with message notification. The NAM will not access the PRI when a user gets a message in there voicemail box. The outdial route 1 is selected in the mailbox's message notification.

Thanks for the help...........

When you choose your outdial route you will need to choose line 001 not the line pool. When you choose line 001 it will take the whole span.

Try that......
