Voicemail DN stuck tying up line 1

Yesterday afternoon at some point I noticed our Line 1 was constantly in use. I hit the key and it said that the VM extension 2125 was using it.

It's now the next morning and the line is still in use. Any idea what's going on here or how I can fix it?

You may have a hacker. If you can remove the bridge clips off the RJ21x for that line and it will drop them. Or you can remove and reconnect the jumper wire. Any other lines tied up? Do all of them show up on the phone or are some in a line pool? If they all show up and only one is busy then I would say that some thing got hung in the disconnect process and there is no hacker. You can go into maintenance and disable the port and re enable it to cause a disconnect.

We've got three lines total and only line 1 is in use. I don't think there are any line pools, we are a small business.

Can I power cycle at the Norstar box to reset the system too?

Yes yes you can but chance loosing programming depending on age of system.

Sounds like Supervised Disconnect (or C.O.D. Cutoff On Disconnect as Telocs' now call is) is not programmed on your Line in Norstar programming or the Teclos has not programmed their end.

It sense when somebody hangs up then release's the line.

Do u have outbound transfer enabled on your vmail system? If so and it's not needed, disable it. If u need it, toll restrict all the vmail DNs. This will prevent hackers from making long distance calls thru your system.

If it was a hacker you would see two lines in use . 1 incoming and 1 outgoing.
