Working on a user who works between two buildings, each has a seperate pbx, but shares a voicemail.

What I have attempted is to setup a CP for that user that rings at his main desk 3 times, then the next point in the path is r1 (phone at the other plant) and it continues to ring and does not come back to voicemail. Upon reviewing the station at plant 2 it has no coverage path. Does it need a coverage path for the system to return from the r1 station to reach the orginal station voicemail?

Rgards,

Check the 'system coverage-forwarding' settings (page 2). The first line 'Coverage of calls redirected off-net' has to be set to 'y'.

Should that be set on both switches or the one that is where is primary desk phone is located?

Regards,

I had the same problem, primary extension at main site, and another extension on a separate (but connected via DCS) switch in a different building. I set up an EC500 extension for the remote extension. Works great. Both phones ring simultaneously and only one voice mail account to manage. The only drawback is MWI. Fortunately we have Modular Messaging with a web server so the user can monitor voice mail from any browser.

SBL 110,

Very imaginative use of EC500. I like the simplicity of the solution.

I had a similar situation with two locations linked by DCS and one Intuity Audix serving both. You are right, Message Waiting Lights would not travel back over DCS if the users phone was in the other location.

I have heard that you can set up a email notification in Outlook for voice mail messages. Do you know if that is done just in Mod. Mess. or can that be done in Intuity as well?

Hi dadmin1,

Modular Messaging allows you do do an Outlook integration where VM shows up along with your e-mail. I've played with it, but prefer the web client.

Modular Messaging does have a "notify me" feature which is basically an e-mail notification, but it's not very flexible. For example, once you enable "notify me" you have to choose between auto notify or caller requested notification. This allows for a single notification to be sent. The "notify me" feature will provide more information about the voice mail message than a simple numeric page. I guess is depends on how much info you want.

I use a "call me" rule to send a numeric page -- similar to outcalling in Intuity -- and better. The "call me" rule allows me to send the numeric message to several pagers if necessary, and, I can schedule what times I want the pages to go out. I have mine set to page me M-F between 6am and 5pm within 3 min. after receiving a message then every hour as a reminder. I could add another rule to page me for priority messages from 6pm to midnight, then nothing until 6am. Very flexible.

The trick is how you program the pager phone number in the phone list. You need to separate the pager's number and the numeric message you want to send with an ampersand "&" sign.

I know the Intuity system can be set up for e-mail capability, but I never played with it long enough to make anything happen.

Here is what I am encountering.

I have verified that both pbx's have coverage of calls off net set to y. What I have done is on the users home pbx create a coverage path 15 that points to r1. R1 equates to the station number on the second pbx at building 2. That station did not have a coverage path. Upon reading the Avaya documentation, I pointed it to h10 (voicemail). Then on the Intutiy that is shared, I added an attendant routing that takes the station a plant 2 and uses bus2 and routes the call to station 1 at plant 1. But when I test this it rings three times at plant 1 (verified with station trace) and then goes to plant 2. However, it never goes to voicemail, just a continous ring.

Have I created a loop, my guess is yes? Suggestions on where I am getting off course.

Regards,
