Voice port 3

I currently use the LUVU, STAT and IDU commands to see if there is a free port with which to install a phone.
However, when i get to a spare voice port, it dosn't always work. Is there a way to interigate a port to see if it has power or any type of fault, without physically programming it and ataching a phone?

Depending on which type of switch:-

LD 32
.STAT Shelf/Slot/Card (Large)
.STAT Slot/Card (Small)

.STAT xx xx xx xx

This will list the IDLE / UNEQuipped / DSBLed UNITS on each card

the tn has power on it at all times unless it's bad.. luvu, tells you that the card is programed and those ports are not. an idu on a non programed port give you a npr.. to find digital sets that are programed and not plugged in..

inv generate midnight

then any day past midnight, inv print sets.. that does an idu of every phone in the switch.. i test that once a week to catch phones that moved themselves..(magic) and phones that walked off.. with almost 8000 sets on an 81, we tend to get a lot of help on upgrades... bill left so i wanted his display set.. then they report the display bad. and just a few keys that don't work.. we had one yesterday that changed itself from an analog to a 2616... then reported a urgent trouble, all lights flash.. instant bill

when you do LUVU that lists all available unused ports.

IDU does not work on a port that is not programmed and hasn't a phone on it.

STAT on a LUVU TN, will tell you it is UNEQ

Untilyou program a phone to it you can't test anything.

I would be neat if the phone display said "Disabled" or
"Not Configured" - you know they could do that...

Of course, it would be nice to have a lot of things happen magicaly
