Hello,
Two weeks ago we installed an IPO R8.1.56, with the UC module for VM Pro. I am having an issue where I can not get a VM Transfer short-code to work properly. I have tried every possible combination that I can think of, including mimicking previous installs where I KNOW it works. For example one of my other installs, I have the following:

SC: #1xxx
Feature: Voice Mail Collect
Telephone Number: "#"1N

If I pick up a system phone and dial #1010, I hear approximately one ring and then I hear the greeting for extension 1010.

When I try to use the same logic on the UC Module, 90% of my short codes take me to Log-In("Welcome to IP Office...for help at anytime, press *H....please enter extension and pound sign") as opposed to the users mail box. Once or twice, I was able to press one of my codes and it doesn't take me to log-in rather the voice mail box of the CALLER....not the destination. For example, if I lift extension 1111 and dial #1113, I hear the ring and then I go to mailbox for extension 1111, not 1113, as intended. Just wondering if since this is the UC module that something was different with this feature. This was my first UC Module install. As always, thanks in advance.

Did you try "#1N", ""#1N, #1N, "#"1N? If so try using a username, so for Andy try "#"Andy, perhaps the UC isn't smart enough to work with extns :)

Use a period for the number. Make sure no quotationsw.

sc=1XXX
feature= voicemail collect
phone number = .

you have to switch the feature from
voicemail collect
to
voicemail node
then back to
voicemail collect

He can't do that, he needs the # at the beginning to differentiate from extn numbers and the . will also dial the # in this case :)

96XX you can use the message key button to transfer..

It's only dialtone!!!

14xx, 16xx, 95xx and 96xx you can use the messages button, but you need it set for visual voice :)

I was under the impression that that sends a caller into the Log-in Prompt.

Not while a call is in progress, it asks which mailbox you want to transfer to :)

We just went to the full R8.1 (67) release last night for our test production system. If you're using the UC, take the time to bring the system up to 67, there are enough fixes to justify the time.

Code should be
#1XX/Voicemail Collect/"#"1XX

Also - if you're still getting what you listed above, change *17 to just "?"

The easiest way to do it is to build the code as a dial first. Add your quotes where you want them then click OK. Go back to the short code then change it to voicemail collect. Here is what I use
Code #XXXX
Feature Voicemail Collect
Number"#"N

Works every time.

Hope this helps

I have tried every one of the options listed above and everything takes me to Log-In, no matter what I do.

I don't think this is an issue, but I'll post it anyway. I cannot use "#" because of their speed dials that they requested. They came from a Partner ACS environment and wanted to mimic as much as possible. Their speed dials are:
#01
#02
.
.
.
etc.

I therefore was testing with the star in place of the pound. I was concerned that I had a short code conflict so I did a few things to try to get around this issue.

1. I changed all the short codes temporarily to include a # after the *. Still no luck
2. I changed all of them back and tried using something obscure, like #*, etc. Last attempt, I was using **1xx, VM Collect, "**"1N. I have also rebooted the UC Module twice. I'm starting to think that I have a software issue. I simply cant get it to work. Thanks for all the posts....I really do appreciate everyone's input.

The shortcode field can be changed but you cannot change the tel number field like that, "**" etc will never work, the # is an action character and needs to be used. You can do **xxx in tel number but the # always needs to go in the tel number field, if it isnt working its a bug but it will never work as you described above :)

And you did upgrade?
For S&G's, please do the following test - if it works, you should be able to modify it to your dialing plan.
Assuming extension range is in the 100's as indicated.

Shortcode
*9991xx
Voicemail Collect
"#"1N

The action item should be the same for whatever you end up using as an access code - By default, *999 is not in the system short code lists. This will work - for testing, then modify it to a code you have open.

Also - do they need the shortcode?
If you're using visual voice, while on a call the user can just press the message button on the phone and dial the extension number. No shortcode needed.

Nurban/Amriddle,
The customer is not using VV, but it doesn't matter now because it works thanks to your input. I'm not new to IP Office but I have a ton to learn and I certainly do appreciate helpful posts. I gave you each a star.
