I found this on a very helpful site on YouTube from a guy who records easy to follow IPO programing instructions. This set of instructions

worked but GMC.COm has not blocked emails as they said the emails look like a security risk. Does anyone have an alternative way to set up VM to EM on IPO500 v2?

GMX has changed their IP Address to 74.208.5.1
Try using the new address.
I just tried mine and it works OK for me.

Maybe your IP Address is on a blocked list for Security issues??
Maybe your computer has a trojan or malware where it is used to Spam????
Just going through the possibilities....
Try changing your Public IP Address if possible for a test.

If all else fails, you can upgrade your KSU to Release 9.0 (845). Oh yes, the upgrade is not free...

The new release allows you to use a URL like smtp.gmx.com

This also opens the door to other web based Email Services like Yahoo and Hotmail to be used as well.

Thanks.

A little off the subject kinda.

Here is what I don;t understand. When a new system like IPO is developed they seem to start at square one and not incorporate what they have learned from other system and features. This feature for example has been in use with BCM for many years and works well with the kinks all worked out. You can easily enter in the SMPT address of lets say Cox and your messages go right out. I have noticed that the simplest of features have been worked on and revamped only to be finally working like a feature from years ago.

Another example is PARK, that has been a great easy to use feature for customers on Nortel and BCM going way back but IPO made it more complicated and it takes up several buttons. Now I understand that the PARK works more like the BCM PARK on a new IPO release.

I would think that Avaya would build on their past experiences. One more thing this name Short Code, it is not customer friendly it is such a strange term. I refer to them as feature codes when training a customer. The term Feature Code makes more sense to a user than does Short Code. Customers naturally understand what a Feature Code is but have no idea what a Short Code is.

What do you think?

Avaya were competitors with Nortel, the IP Office existed alongside the BCM as its competition. Avaya just bought the company not travelled back in time and became the company :)

P.s If little things like that annoy you stay away from the Mitel 5000:

You don't use Auto attendants as auto attendants even though they exist in programming, you use Call Routing Applications
The users settings are called flags
The flag that shows if you're in/out of group is "Hunt Group Remove/Replace"
The flag that dictates if calls should be intercom calls is called "Dial Intercom always on/off" but the setting you change is Yes or No
Your first station speed dial shows in a box called "House Phone Day", the rest don't show.
There is a section called "User programmable keys" that doesn't show what buttons/keys are on a users phone, only what they have manually assigned and then button/key 1 isn't button 1 on the phone.

Every system has it's good/bad bits, the IP Office has more good than bad :)

Never had any real interest in Mitel except from a historical perspective as it related to the old Bell System and Motel Hotel PBX installations.
