Hello,

I need to set up a mailbox that will be used as an "information hotline" that can be accessed by outside callers that will play a message detailing information on a particular activity.

I have set up internal voice mail boxes with no handset but not one that can be dialed from outside the system. How do I go about this?

I assume I need an unused DN? I have already printed a list of unused DNs - where do I go from here? A walk through would be greatly appreciated! We are on an Option 11C with Call Pilot.

Thanks!

you will need an unused DID (direct inward dial number). Do you have any? if so, use one of those and copy the steps you used to build internal mailboxes.

You should be able to dial directly into your voicemail system from outside by just dialing the appropriate number.

I set up an ACD for outside sales guy and a mailbox with the same DN and they dial into the system and access the box.

What is the load and the command to list unused DID's?

Thanks!

you would have to know your DIDs from your provider. You really can't list them in your PBX unless you know the range. They're not "programmed" in your PBX. The PBX doesn't know DIDs from system (internal #s). Does anyone there have a direct-dial number? you may be able to figure it out based on that number.

Hello John,

Now what you are talking about is what I am more familiar with doing. Yes we do not need the capability for people to leave messages. It needs to be informational only.

It was what needed to be done in LD 23 that I was missing. So if our voice mail is at 3300 then when I get to ncfw I enter 3300 and that's it?

And then in call pilot I can disable the ability to leave messages which I have done before.

Thanks!
KM

yes but you'll need to build a as (announcement service) in the mail, and add your number to the voice service dn table. do you have mer mail. if so ill give you the prompts.

if you choose a number that is NOT a direct dial number then people can't call it directly from the outside. They will have to be transferred to it.

yes it need to be in a did range that is routed to you, find a vacant number that is as close to your number as possible, put it on a key and ring it to verify it's a did. very small did groups are 20 numbers, very large are 10,000, here at the hosp we have all the did's in the 434.. and we're running out

Well I just did all the steps in ld 23 and dialed the full 11 digit number from my cell phone and it picked up. Of course it said "you have been forwarded to an auto vm system but the box has not been set up". So I believe it's working fine?

So I believe all I need to do is go into call pilot and set up the mail box.

KM

right. if you don't have your DID range handy you'll have to try and guess. So if you know you have direct dial phone number 555-4421 you can reasonably assume you also own DID phone # 555-4422, since they usually come in blocks. good luck (I know it's a bit confusing).

okay, you obviously found your DID range and are all set on the switch side.
