Does the CIS or MICS offer a visual MW indication when telephone company voice mail has a message waiting. Telco provides stutter dial tone and MWI that is now used on analog sets. Does Nortel take advantage of this signal. This would of course be in the case were there is no Nortel voice mail system attached to the KSU just telco VM service

yes it can have mwi from telco call answer, but can't recall at the moment how to set up (been so long since I've used it) if you don't get the procedure I'll look the next time I'm in the office

It is set up under the Telco settings for each line. There you put in the set that you want the mwi to display for a particular line.

Also have to tell the voice message center what the phone number is that is sending the signal for the MWI. And the phone has to be assigned to the MSG CTR #.

I havnt done it for a few years now but I seem to remember you need Caller ID cards in the KSU. Maybe someone else will know for sure.

So the voice message center number is the number the customer calls to access the telcos voice mail system? i.e. 212-555-1212?

Oh I see. They have T7316's on a CICS. Will they see the RED MWI on the set as well or just the words on their screen?

In Telco Features in terminals & sets you can set "external MSG" right after the caller id option

This worked out just great. I did notice that there is another selection that I believe is under TELCO. It asked for the Voice Message Center telephone number and had multiple numbers that could be entered. What is that for.

Thank you

If this is your only Norstar customer, then program them as needed, and leave them happy.

If not, then talk them into a Call Pilot, and give them all something they can use for a long time to come.

This is a small office and they only have one person and only need phone company voice mail. They are happy with telco voice mail and now that I have the Nortel VM indicator working and the MWI light working they are even happier. CP would be an expensive overkill for this customer.
