Voice Mail help BCM 50

When someone calls into the system in which the AA answers all the time.

Then when someone uses the directory to find the extension of the person they want to call, it goes right to their voice mail box and never rings there extension phone.

Even though someone goes thru the call pilot directory I still would like to make the phone ring first then if no answer or busy allow the call pilot rules to take over.

I would think I am just missing a check box somewhere but I have looked to no avail and cannot figure this out.

In the Greeting Table setup verify that disable DN dialing is not checked.

How are they dialing the extension from the directory, pressing # to accept the entry or actually dialing the extension manually?

When in the voice mail system, if you spell someones name it goes right to voice mail (never rings there extension) if you would know the extension number you are trying to call then it ring the phone?

Make sure the extension listed in the mailbox is their actual extension. I've ran into some that were installed as guest mailboxes and had no extension listed. Yes, you should be able to dial the extension directly while the AA greeting is playing.

Yes the extension is the same as ther mail box number.
For example I am using extension 115 so the mailbox is 115

Could something be set wrong on the BCM side?

No you don't need to do anything with the service directory. Are you able to direct-dial the extension while the greeting is playing? Are the extensions local to the Call Pilot or on a networked voice mail? Try setting up a new mailbox and extension and see if it works.

Are they pressing *(star) before pressing #(pound) before entering the person's last name?
Are they using the call pilot interface instead of the NVM interface?
Did you have problem creating the mailboxes in the range 11X because it conflicts with the default "name prefix" set to "11"?

Yes the AA comes on then you press *# and the name of the person you are trying to reach---bam right to VM never rings the extenion.

I don't know what you mean by NVM? I believe it is the Call Pilot.

I have had no problems creating mail boxes.

I had a BCM400 that worked they way I wanted ot to, it would ring the extention no matter what before going to voice mail

You need to press # for the directory and not *#.Pressing * means you want to leave a message then # using the directory.So pressing # only will do it.

Is there any place to change this?

No you can't change this.That's the way it was designed years ago back at the startalk time.
