I have a DID number which does not go to voice mail when the line is busy or no answer. The phone rings when called from outside using the DID. However, it goes to the automated attendant after 3 rings.

When calling the same phone using its extension number, it works correctly. VM picks up when busy or no answer.

It is a Norstar ICS 4.0 with an old type of VM. All other DID's and extension numbers on the same system work correctly.

Have you made that line private to that extension and make that extension the prime as well?

We all need a little help once in awhile. Tony the Phoneman..

There is a patch for the NAM 4.0 for this problem. I think its called the "mailbox redirect dn", but I'm not sure. If you do a search on mailbox redirect, it might show up for you.

I found the thread on the NAM4.0 redirect DN patch - However, my situation is that only this DID line has the problem. Other DID lines all work correctly. We have even deleted the mailbox and added new. Still it did not fix the problem.

Outside callers can still reach this line by calling the main number + extension. Would it be the configuration of the DID itself?

Ravnz5 mentioned about making the line private to that extension. I am not sure how to do it.

Cook1082,

Thank you for the suggestion. That makes sense. Unfortunately I am a newbie to phone system configuration although I am an IT guy. It would be helpful if someone can furnish with a procedure like this:

Access programming -> Terminals and Sets -> ????

Sorry to be a pest.

It's not in the MICS, it's in the Vmail. You need to go into the AA, find your DID's target line number and turn off the greeting table.

Phone system first:
Terminals & Sets/Ext#/LineAccess/LineAssignemt/
SCAN to see what the target line number is assigned to that set ( i.e LN145)

Voice Mail system:
F983
Login with 102XXXX
AA/LINES
Enter Target number (i.e 145)
Change AA to N

That is most helpful. I will give it a try and let you know. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Thanks to everyone who contributed ideas to the issue. Problem was resolved by removing the AA assigned to the line. User is happy.

Curlycord's instruction was extremely useful to a novice like me.
