Hi ...

I have IPO 11.1.2.4, I face strange problems with this.

if the user picks up a call, sometimes can't hear each other.
if the user has a call, and has a 2nd call, put the first call to hold, and picks up the second one, the parties can not hear each other.

this case suddenly and randomly occurs.

Is this related to the customer network or the IPO itself?
 
I have this issue on my 11.1.2.4 server. If I pick up the call to quick I don't get the voice path.
You have to put the call on hold and pick it up again to hear.
If I let it ring and pick it up on the 2nd ring I don't seems to have this issue.
I haven't had time to troubleshoot the root cause.

Wireshark would be your best option. If your on Server Edition enable Packet Capture and duplicate the issue.
Pull the trace off the server and open in WireShark. Check the call flow and when it's sending the RTP traffic.

They are in the tcpdump_logs

In WireShark, open the pacap.
Got to Telephony>RTP>RTP Streams>Flow Sequence

Try enabling RTCP Keep Alives on the LAN1/VoIP tab.
Scope - RTP-RTCP
Timeout - 30
Initial Keep alives - Enabled.

Also, remove unused codecs. Only leave G.711 ULAW on the VoIP tab

Something is blocking the RTP ports intermittently. If you do a tracert how many hops does it take to the server?
Virus or Firewall issue perhaps?

What is s tracert? do you mean trace route from SSA, and to which server do you want me to ping ? I only have the trace above from Wireshark and Monitor?

also, I understand the firewall issues, but the customer tells me that all the ports are open, where I can tell the customer to check in on that?

also, what do you mean it maybe the virus issue ? and how we can catch that ?

The phone is connected to a switch port. From there it has to register back to the IP Office.
From the wireshark trace it shows a good call, sending the RTP packets. ports 40750-50750.
The bad trace isn't sending the RTP packets.

The question is where are we loosing the RTP stream. Is there antivirus software on the network flagging this traffic?
When the audio fails is it isolated to one network switch? How many hops is there between the phone and the IP Office?
I would have someone troubleshoot the network side of this issue.
 
@IPOTS: What if we suggest, for example, connecting a digital phone directly to the PBX and testing this problem?
 
Since the phone is digital you won't have the issue. That is a direct connect to the IPO.
The root cause to figure out is where you are losing the RPT on the network.
 
@IPOTS:

Regarding our Switches hops the maximum is 3 switches and this only apply to 4 Phones, but most of our phones only pass the packets through 2 hops to reach the IP OFFICE or Avaya Servers this on HQ.

Regarding the Isolate of switches, it happen at least with 3 different switches with different venders (Cisco and HP).

Regarding the Antivirus there is no antivirus in the way between IP Office and the Phones except on Call Center Servers installed on, and there is no flags in this Servers by our AV.

About troubleshooting the network there is nothing I can see on network that prevented the packets as long as I didn’t apply any ACL’s on my switches
any there is no rule that filters the packets from LAN to LAN / VPN to LAN,

at the begining this you told me that
"I have this issue on my 11.1.2.4 server. If I pick up the call to quick I don't get the voice path.
You have to put the call on hold and pick it up again to hear.

I opened a case with Avaya, and told me to test this, and it's work.
but on my case it's happened to me on IPO 11.1.2.3 before upgraded it to latest.
I don't know if this is related to Avaya Software or not now .

One-way/No-way audio is usually a network thing, you can try anchor all call media to the IPO by disabling Direct Media but it's a shot in the dark.

Sounds like you need help from the networking team/Avaya Support.
