Our operator has a phone with two DSS consoles attached. We were moving our operator when my tech plugged a phone into the ext. where the first DSS was supposed to be. After that I cannot get that DSS to come back on. What I'm guessing has happened is that in the system that extension (ext 140) is now a regular phone extension instead of a DSS extension. How do I go about changing that back so I can use the DSS again?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offier. It will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

wow, been a few years since I had to add a DSS since I moved over to the Cisco VoIP but the below should work;

get into programming mode;

flash 50

put in 140 140 hold

buttons 19, 20, and 21 should be your pages A B and C

If I remember right it should be page B one of the first few buttons to turn it back to a DSS. Will double check this when I find my manuals, but that should get you started in the right direction.

Ok, the directions I have are as follows (they are confusing to me so if you could help me straighten them out I would appreciate it)

Description
Each system port must be programmed to identify the type of station that operate on that port. Each station type must be identified.

Note
When identifying a station as a DSS / DLS console, you must also enter the station number of the key telephone to which the DSS / DLS console is associated. To associate a DSS console with Station 100, the entry would be 1100 [HOLD].

Programming Steps
1. Press the STATION ID flexible button (FLASH 50, Page B, Button #1).

2. Dial [1-5] on the dial pad to identify the DSS map number. Refer to “Mapping Options” on page 3-16.

3. Enter a valid station number to which the DSS/BLF Console is associated.

4. Press HOLD to save the entry. A confirmation tone sounds and the display updates.

Thanks,
Matt B

ok... so you will do the **#* and enter the password to get into the your programming mode on a station that is set up to do programming, normally station 100 by default

then do FLASH 50, button 20 (should be page B), button 1

basically 1 - 5 for the DSS map numbers mean do you want all station buttons to be programmed or do you want a different set up like all lines or half and half... look at the page it refers to to pick your DSS map

then enter your station ID you want to the DSS tied to... then press HOLD to save it...

Now you can go in into flash 5 or 6 i believe and set a lock on your stations, so that you won't have to worry about this happening again.
