I'm slowly coming to the conclusion Vodafone are using their own version of SIP/VOIP which is not compatible to industry standard - anyone else had similar issues

Hi derfloh

System status shows it as not registered.

Have attached monitor printout for the attempts to connect.

Cheers

John

There are a couple of applications notes for Vodafone SIP trunks with IP Office:

[ul]
[li][/li]
[li][/li]
[/ul]

The recent (2023) one is for Vodafone in Germany, and the older UK one uses an ASBCE - but they both may provide some clues as to what settings Vodafone require.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Thanks sizbut

Tried bits of each application notes (picking the parts that seem to match) - but still not registering.

John

It seems your firewall might be causing issues as STUN is showing it "Blocking Firewall". Have you opened the necessary ports?

Hi All

Thanks for feedback

The standard Firewall :

-

----------------------------------
Custom Firewall for UDP :

UDP_Firewall_lttnnl.jpg

Help for custom says
IP Protocol
The value entered here corresponds to the IP Protocol which is to be processed by this Firewall profile: 1 for ICMP, 6 for TCP, 17 for UDP or 47 for GRE. This information can be obtained from the "pcol" parameter in a Monitor trace.

Indeed. In its day, ie. 15 years ago, the IPO firewall was a very useful feature. But not now.

It and a few other legacy features should really be removed as they are much better done by other kit these days.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Hi All,

Connected to the public network via Lan 2 - router on 192.168.2.2

hi derfloh

Where would I find that please

John

Hi John,
Since you have internal IP for IP Office, there must be a external router/firewall connecting you to internet. You'll need to open and forward ports from your external router/firewall to IP Office. Leave the IP Office firewall to default.

Port forward below to Avaya IP Office Address: 192.168.2.203
TCP:5060
UDP:5060 , 3478, 46750-50750

After the port forwarding rules are in place, click the 'RUN STUN' on LAN2 > Network Topology tab. You should see something else then 'Blocking Firewall'.

Also change the 'Listen Port' to 5060 on LINE > Line 17 (or the SIP line number) > Transport - Listen port. (You have it set to 5065)

Good Luck!

Don't do that!

If it is a SIP trunk with registration the ports are opened only from IPO towards internet. If it is without registration, it is usually enough to open the connection by sending OPTIONS messages. And for RTP the IPO should send a package to open the session. If this is not enough restrict inbound traffic to the IP of Vodafone. If not you will be attacked by foreigners who will try to register to your IPO to make expensive calls.

IP routes can be found in IPO manager under "IP routes". If you don't know that I would expect that you have little to no experience with IPO and you you'd ask someone to help you.

IP Office remote service
IP Office certificate check
CLI based call blocking
SCN fallback over PSTN

Hi All,

Vodafone informed me they use 5065 not 5060 for some reason.

I have had a sipgate trunk working in the past and currently have a CNET trunk which is still working although it uses UDP port 5062.

IP Route is set for LAN 2 - or do I need to setup a specific route for vodafone
