in settin up a backup job on our primary db, I keep getting the following message.

VNI-2015 : The Node preferred credentials for the target node are either invalid
or do not have sufficient privileges to complete the operation.
On Windows platforms, the Node credentials specified for the Windows target
should have the "Logon as a batch job" privilege.

I have alread tried assigning the logon as batch job policy to both the local machine and domain with no change.

kinda frustrating.

Thanks
Dennis

If the Logon as a batch job privilege has been granted to the OS user and jobs continue to fail with VNI-2015, verify the "Deny Logon as a Batch Job" privilege has not been assigned to that same OS user. Deny Logon as a Batch Job is a new user privilege on Windows 2000 systems. When assigned, the privilege will override the "Logon as a Batch Job" privilege. Fix: Remove the Intelligent Agent's OS user from the list of users who are assigned the privilege "Deny Logon as a Batch Job". From the Windows 2000 desktop, perform the following steps: 1. Click on START => Programs => Administrative Tools => Local Security Policy 2. Drill-down on the Local Policies folder 3. Highlight and Select the User Rights Assignment folder 4. Look at the right side of the window and scroll down the list until "Deny Logon as Batch Job" privilege is displayed. 5. To select the privilege, either select Action from the menu bar then Security or right-click on the "Deny Logon as a Batch Job" privilege then Security or just double-click on the privilege. 6. The list of users who are assigned this privilege will display in the box. Locate and highlight the Windows 2000 user who is specified in the Enterprise Manager Console's Preferred Credentials setting for that node. 7. Locate the check box to the right of the User's name entitled: Local Policy Setting. De-select the box by clicking once inside the box. This will remove the user from the assigned users list. 8. Click on OK to save the changes.

Fix: From the Windows 2000 desktop, perform the following steps: 1. Click on START => Programs => Administrative Tools => Local Security Policy (or also via START => Settings => Control Panel => Administrative Tools) 2. Under Local Policies on the left, select User Rights Assignment folder 3. Look at the right side of the window and scroll down to the "Logon as Batch Job" privilege and select it. 4. Either select Action from the menu bar then Security or right-click on the "Logon as a Batch Job" privilege then Security. 5. Select the Add button which evokes a Select Users/Groups box. 6. From the "Look In" field, select the local workstation/server. 7. Select the User that will be used as the EM OS (node) user. 8. Select Add then OK. 9. Verify that the "Local Policy Setting" checkbox has been checked. 10. Logon to the EM Console. 11. Click on System => Preferred Credentials. A. Set PREFERRED CREDENTIALS for the NODE called DEFAULT. This will set the logon credentials the same for all discovered nodes. or B. Set individual PREFERRED CREDENTIALS for each NODE. Option B must be used if the accounts and passwords are not unique across the servers. An operating system user with 'Logon as batch Job' privilege is required on Windows 2000 if jobs and events are to be submitted. In order to run jobs and schedule events against this Node or the services on this node, the user must be setup in the EM Console's Preferred Credentials for the node.

I have verified these settings, Problem still exists
