We have a dead hard drive in our vp 100. It looks like I need a specialy formated drive to replace it. The drive is a Quantum 170 scsi. Where can I get a replacement drive?

Can a GHOST program copy an image from an old drive to a newer and larger scsi drive and still work in a VP 100 voice mail system?

Has any one had any luck keeping this voice mail system going?

Thanks a mil

Randy

Hi computerjanitor

The VMX-100 has been phased out many years ago.
You will have to shop around.
In one post on this site there was mentioned a dealer, that might help you.
I will write his address in the next message to you.

If I get a new Harddisk, what is with OCC? It does not match normally

We have done this several times.
A "recombine" process does the job, so that the new HDD and the original OCC will operate together.

Thanks for the address and phone number. I an in Nova Scotia, Canada so getting parts from across the pond is a bit of a deterrent...

What is the OCC chip?

I looks like the old system will have to be replaced. Finding a new drive of similar size is near impossible and installing a new SCSI drive equaly so...

Thanks a mil.

Randy!
The OCC is the license chip for the VMX-100.
I might have some HDD but they are quite used, so the is no warranty that it will work after a tour cross the pond.
The HDD is the only part that we have changed on our 150 VMX-100 customers here in our country.
Line cards and power supplies just work after 12-13 years now!

The VP-100 that replaced the unit with a bad drive is working well on the old Partner II system. What would be a good replacement voice mail system? We are currently using 4 ports on the vp-100. I plan to replace the Partner II with a Merlin Magix some tome in the near future. Not that I need more extensoins but the phones are getting old an hard to find new
replacements.

Any others thst I should look at?

Thanks

As you know we live on the eastern side of the Atlantic ocean (i.e.the pond).
The PBX and voice mail product are different here.
But if you want to swap the whole PBX and voice mail, I know of one good and not expensive system:
The Vodavi XTS. (see We sell this product also here in my country and have several thousands of happy users.

I know it is a bit late to be adding to this thread, but there is a company based out of Puerto Rico, their warehouse is in the US and they have all sorts of octel part for great prices. I use them all the time.
