VMWare Server 1.0.3 and Windows Vista

Hi guys, I recently purchased a laptop that comes with Windows Vista Home Premium version, and proceeded to install VMware Server on it. I created a Windows 2003 Ent server VM using NAT for networking and the only thing I seem to be able to do is to map drives back to the host, but can't ping or run any tools like Remote Desktop. Thinking it's a firewall issue I disabled the Vista firewall (god I hate this OS) on the network pointing to VMWare and my private network.. still no dice..
Has anybody run into this or can point me to a technical note regarding VMware on Vista hosts? Thanks.

Any particular reason you nat'ed the interface? Try bridging it instead.

Good question.. I usually run in a "sandbox" for dev purposes and don't make use of the external network. Either way, I found that I had to go to the advanced tab on the firewall settings in order to disable the firewall on a per interface basis also. All is well

I'm running into similar problems with XP Pro running in VMWare Server on Vista Business. Could you elaborate on what you did to get around the problem? Did you go into the firewall advanced settings tab on the host system(Vista) or the guest os?

I made the change on the host side (Vista), although I am now able to run a NATed network setup, I am still unable to get bridged networking working.

When you say "on a per interface basis", do you mean all networks or just the VMWare (VMnet*) ones?

I removed it for all interfaces
