I haven't been lucky enough to upgrade a Windows installation of VMPro so I have some lame questions.

A couple of questions..
I'm going from 8.1 to 9.1
1). Do I just launch the 9.1 Installer on the Windows machine and it just automagically upgrades?

2.0 If that has issues and is missing data, can I restore the 8.1 Accounts, Wavs, Greetings, Custom waves, Mods, MDB & CoNS to the 9.1 folder?

3.) Can a 8.1 VMPro backup be restored to a 9.1 VmPro System via Web Manager?

Do a backup of your VM Pro before upgrading, then just follow the release notes

4.3 Upgrade Instructions for IP Office Preferred Edition (VoiceMail Pro)
IP Office Preferred Edition (VoiceMail Pro) must be at a minimum of 8.0 GA to
upgrade directly to 9.1. Previous versions must be upgraded to 8.0 first, before
upgrading to 9.1.
The Preferred Edition 9.1.10.0.9 installer will automatically detect the previous
build and upgrade automatically. It is always advisable to back up the
configuration, and any bespoke voice files prior to performing the upgrade.
Prior to upgrading the Preferred Edition Server to 9.1.10.0.9 please ensure that
all applications running on the PC are closed. The upgrade process will retain all
the customer configuration, mailbox data and registry settings.

I lose on 50% of upgrades the call flows so make sure you have backups.

Yes you can restore from 8.1 backups

Westi, Did you raise that as a bug?
I did once and i they never took me serious.
It happens and it is bad.
How can an upgrade default the while configuration?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Guys. Thanks for your advice!
My upgrade went flawless.
Did not lose any data.

Can anyone answer this:
When upgrading VMPro, the advice is to make a backup of the VM folder and/or the various sub-folders i.e. Accounts,Wavs, etc.

To what extent are these files/folders "universal" between the VmPro versions.
Is it, for example "2" versions back?
Or would compatibility always be directly related the statement in the Release Bulletin as exampled below implying in this case 8.0

4.3 Upgrade Instructions for IP Office Preferred Edition (VoiceMail Pro)

upgrade directly to 9.1. Previous versions must be upgraded to 8.0 first, before
upgrading to 9.1.

FWIW...

the backup being referred to is an immediate backup of all components (wavs, greetings etc... check ALL radio buttons) done within the VM pro Administration interface.

The resultant tar.gz file should be copied off-server for safe keeping. This file might be 100's of meg in size.

With Windows VM pro, in the administration, the tab is called backup restore, and there is a restore button that can be used to restore from a backup file.

With the Linux/app server version, you need to restore from within webmanagement.
