Hello
anyone got a link to some avaya provided documentation that says multiple VM Pro servers are not supported in a SCN? I'm going through the knowledge base and not finding any documenatation stating it do or dont?

thanks

They are now ,they weren't before, if I remember correctly the Help files in Manager mentioned it :)

cheers guys,
i know centralized and distributed vm,
I have a client with 6 sites and they want vmpro stand alone at each one,
jus trying to find notes or docs on any issues if any with the scn going cuckoo because of the above,

also..hehe, is it possible to have 2 centralized vm,
so that site 3 and 4 look at site 1 for vm, and site 5 and 6 look at site 2 for vm ?

thanks

The closest you will get is "Distributed" where the IP Office at the local sites will handle the call flows (auto attendants) and the recording of voicemail messages.

Once a voicemail is left the message is sent to the central site for storage and playback. You cannot have a completely autonomous voicemail system at each site in an SCN.

Thanks Kyle

so just to confirm, I cannot have an independent vm pro at each site with scn?

That is correct you cannot.

Distributed is as close as you can get and it still has remote sites rely on the central server for playback.

You can disable the SCN/Voice Networking and use short codes for site-to-site calling but oh what a pain that would be with 6 sites.

Ohh and to clarify. Many people do what you are trying to do. And many people get away with it. I have one 12 site SCN that worked this way for 4 years...until the day it didn't. All it takes is for some stray reboot or some odd user change and the whole thing goes to hell.

Look for distributed voice messaging.

There is also SCN Fallback which would use a second vmpro computer. That has been supported since R5 and perhaps R4
A backup VMPro machine is introduced in 6.0 :)
Distributed is introduced in 6.1
