VMPro link won't take

When editing the "main line" module in VMPro, I had a link from a CLID Routing action to a menu. Worked fine, along with five other numbers in the same CLI Routing.

I went in to add some more numbers and a separate action. In the process of testing I deleted one link from the first group, and now it won't let me re-establish. I can add a new destination (e.g. a Speak Text action) and link to that, but I can't link to the previously used menu.

Is there some limit to the number of entries in a CLID Routing module? Under what circumstances will the VMPro NOT allow a link to be inserted...? I am stymied... Any ideas appreciated!

I was using remote desktop from my PC to the VMPro PC. Then I thought maybe some resolution mismatch might be to blame, so I went right to the VMPro keyboard and monitor and tried it- same result - unseccessful.

Using Remote desktop is a big no no, you have now corrupted your voicemail system, unless you have a backup from befor this issue happened you will need to re-install and rebuild from scratch, only .wav files are not effected :)

To clarify why, VM Pro writes the callflows to a database in the VM folder, when connecting using RDP it launches an additional comsole session so you now have two sessions writing to the same database and you inevitably end up corrupting the database, this may not happen for months but it nearly always does.

Use VNC or similar to avoid this in future :)

Holy cr*&! I need to do a complete restore from a backup to clear things up? Not possible to restore just the VMPro cfg backup file, or some other subset... Wow, have to think about this one... I know I have an image of that thing somewhere...

You have learned the hard way.
I always tell resellers not to use RDP but they don't believe me :)

I found an old copy of the bulletin 183... saying :
" Once the database is corrupted, the only workaround to restoring call flows is to import a backup call flow database, then Save and Make Live."

What is the "call flow database"? By chance is it the filename.vmp file that is created when one hits the save-as under File menu?

Even that doesn 't always work.
Reinstall it and import the backup.

I have a ghost image of the server from about a month ago, but I can't get at it right now.

But, I have a few backup files on the IPOffice machine. One is a database backup from last year. Took a quick look and it is quite out of date, but I guess intact (not corrupted).

I also have a backup of the current call flows in a sept2010bkp.vmp file.

As a temp fix I could try importing the database from last year, and Save/make live.

Is there then a way to import the call flows from the sept2010bkp.vmp file, or do I have to rebuild everything starting from the restored database?

Thanks so much for the help.

You need a MDB file.
The text file is handy when you need to rebuild it.

Are you sure it is corrupt?? Usually when i have seen RDP do this you cant even open the VM client and see the call flow. can you make changes and add stuff in? is it just this 1 thing thats not right? We use RDP once in a while in a pinch and usually i will log in and log off all the other sessions before doing anything and havent run into this issue. but when the data is corrupt it usually tells you there is an error connecting to the call flow database.

I have seen in the newer versions that you can't open the VM Pro client when there is another one still open (even if it is timing out and the popup tells you that you are timed out) you need to close it down with the task manager by showing processes from all users before you can open the client I think that has been done to avoid that corruption.
So try to restart the server and then log in again

I am not getting any errors about connecting. I can open VMPro and edit the call flow.

But, while I am editing, it seems to be acting flakey, as I described in the first post- can't place a link between two actions (where a link previously existed), but I can place other new links...

Maybe a mild corruption, or maybe its not the database, but something is not right...

if you have a backup then try restoring the backup (but make a new one first ;-) ) then see if that fixes the problem.
