VMPro 3.2 (30) and Palm Treo 700p DTMF problem

Hi guys,

Did anybody run into a problem when a Treo 700p user cannot reliably log into the VMPro mail box using their VMPro credentials pre-programed into the Treo address book as additional digits?

The user gets "Login Incorrect" in about 85% of cases. Then they need to manually re-enter name and password.

The problem manifested itself after we upgraded IPO 403 from 2.1 to 3.2.

Thank you,
Vladimir Mikhelson

If via analog line, monitor the call to listen in to the dtmf.

Tones are clearly heard on the Palm end while in speaker mode. Do you suggest to exclude any network interference?

Are you calling into the vmpro via an analog telephone line? If so, plug an analog phone in between the analog line, and the IPO allowing the dial tone to pass thru to the IPO. Monitor it to see if you hear the dtmf on the line coming into the IPO. Hearing the dtmf anywhere else is not really relevant unless heard here as well.

Might try a speed dial to do the dialing log in, after the call connects. It may be dialing too quickly the additional digits. Also, the dtmf tones may not be long, loud, or tonaly correct enough. Some phones you can adjust the tone lengths.

OK. Monday morning test results.

Tapped the analog phone to the incoming analog line. Made the user place the call and activate additional digits dialing after the connection was established.

The DTMF tones were heard by me nice and clear, no noise, no breaks, not too fast.

Any ideas?

BTW, my Kyocera started showing the same problem too.

Thank you,
Vladimir

some smart phones have a setting to adjust the duration of dtmf tones being sent out, check the phone. You may have to extend the tone durations. You can check this by dialing, then dialing the log in digits naually, to see if they work this way? If so, then look further at the smart phone, it must lie there.

Before coming to this forum I did my homework. Specifically I made sure to try all settings in Palm Treo, called Sprint technical support, etc.

What I hoped to get here is the answer to my question, "What could be done in IPO403 v.3.2 so it would recognize DTMF as it did in ver. 2.1?"

Thank you,
Vladimir
