Solaris 8 on Sparc.
Is there any program available to process these crash files? I guess what I'm looking for is some utility I can pass these files through that might give me some insight into how come my system blew up. The /var file system had lots of errors and needed a manual fsck run against it and actually I'm up again but I'd sure like to know what caused this problem.
Thanks.

Usually the dump files are processed with a script called iscda.sh which came from Sun.

If you have explorer already downloaded, you can use the following to analyze your crash dump:

cd to your crash dump directory (the one with vmcore.0 and unix.0)
From the command line type in:
# /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer_iscda unix.0 vmcore.0 > iscda.out

Or the output filename of your choice :)

Cheers,

Paul
