Hi all,

I have recently migrated an old VM Pro server on XP to Windows 7. I had thought I got everything working correctly. Seems I did not. The VM, AA...etc stop working after a couple of hours, and the fix is to restart the "Voicemail Pro Service" service, then all is good for a couple more hours. I'm rather sure it has to due with the License showing "Invalid" in the manager. I have tried to remove the licenses and re-enter them. To no avail nothing seems to work. The key server services is running, when I launch the Key Server the red icon is a red X.

I did have to purchase a SIIG PCIe Parallel adapter to plug the dongle into as this new computer did not have a parallel port. I'm not sure what else would have to be done to get this working.

Any help would be appreciated.

By the way this is Voicemail Pro Server version 3.2.15

I ran into this a while back and could not get it to work. I ended up buying a serial dongle from my disti, transferring the licenses to it, and then connected it directly to the back of the IPO 406V2.

Other option: Move the Parallel adaptor to another xp machine on the network, add the license key server to that machine, and point the IPO to that machine for license verification. Keep vmpro on the Windows 7 machine.

Also, I believe R3.2 VMpro is not supported on Windows 7. I upgraded my client to R6 vmpro and it has been working fine for 6 months. I upgraded the IPO to R5 as well as that was the last free upgrade. I have heard R3.2 will also work with vmpro R6, but I have not done it.

If Your VM pro audio is silenced after 2 hours, it is not seeing the license. That is why You see the red X on key server.
Rebooting the VM Server just gives You another two hour grace period.
Dose the new computer have a different IP address? The PC should be on the same LAN segment as the IP Office control unit, check Your routes, and double check dongle.

The feature key server requires a legacy hardware Parallel port (MS-DOS Compatible) other parallel ports will NOT function
this is almost certainly why you are now unlicensed.

Solutions:
1) Find a mother board that still has a Parallel port on board.
2) Try to locate either an RS232( best option) or USB feature key & request a license swap. both items are discontinued so may be difficult to source.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

I'm pretty sure VM Pro 3.2 does not supports Windows 7. Are you running some type of virtual box or something?

@gknight1 - I'm not running VM Pro virtually. I did however have to run the Phone Manager software in XP Mode. The VM Pro software installed and runs fine.

So there is a way to have the licenses transferred to a USB dongle? or RS232?

No as they are end of sale.
Why not swap the 406 for a 500?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Just remember, just because it is working now wont mean that it could stop working if a windows update or something comes out, be prepared. yes you can swap it, it needs to be done through a business partner, they will then have to return that dongle you currently have. if you are going to do that, it would be best to go with the serial dongle that goes on the back of the IPO, its a lot less headache.

tlpeter, our distributor Catalyst still has 41 in stock...

i agree completely on upgrading though, 3.2 is/was dangerous and is far from being supported. but my guess is, its a price thing...

You can still get a usb dongle. I went with a serial so I could connect it direct to the IP406V2 and not worry about keyserver anymore.
