I have a new VM Pro on and IPO 500V2 Release 8.1 scheduled to go into service soon. I am looking for the easiest method possible for a customer to record daily job opening updates on several different menus. The specific user is a very low-tech kind of guy.

For the design: My thought is to establish a menu with the various job types broken out. Once the caller selects Job Type A, they will listen to the information and then if they want to hear the jobs for another job type, they will press # and return to the previous menu to make another selection. Is there by chance a way to build a short code per menu for the user to record the menu greeting without using the VM Pro client?

The other recordings for the system are fairly static and will be made by one individual who will have the Manager Tool and the VM Pro Client at their desk and use their telephone to record the .wav files.

I have only had the opportunity to work with a couple of VM Pro systems so far so I am still a rookie. I would appreciate your input.

Build the normal job opening greetings.
Then build a separate module with a menu and connect actions called "edit play list"
Search for the already recorded "job opening greeting"
Then call to the menu by shortcode and lister re-record and save the greeting.
Job done.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Create a module with a menu were the different tough tone options connect to different recording actions.
You can find a examle module ( import in VMPro client, use F1-Help ) Here

Oh forgot one : in manager create a shortcode:
SC = *99
TN = "Rec"
Action = VoiceMail Collect

SHS1977, i always use a special made module that i can import.
I (read the customer) just need to enter a number (i document which text can be change with which number) and change it from there.
Try it and see if you like it.
It is a bit different then explained and you need to modify it to your language.

Stars fro tlpeter & Integrant for basically the same advise.

A Recordings Menu should be standard programming an ANY VM Pro you configure!

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

star for IPGuru for pointing out the importance of a proper recordings menu.

Happy Monday everyone

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.

I had vendor meetings today and am now working my way though the responses. I finally got this working once it dawned on me that I must use the same .wav file name for both the record and play menus. (I know, it seems painfully obvious now...and yes, I realize now I was told that but being the rookie, I just did not connect the dots.)

tlpeter - I would like to look at the link you posted however I seem to have a media player issue. :0/ If you have a moment, could tell me what media player should work with it?

Thank you all for your assistance.

We all had to learn it someday and the most of us learned it just like you.
I always use the build in mediaplayer in Windows, your PC need to have a audio device and drivers though.
Alternatively you can use a telephone to record the messages.

SHS1977, it is a .mod file and seen as a Windows medial player file.
Open the VMPro client and go to "file" -> "import or export" and go to the module.
Then when you have done that then it will appear in the list of modules.
