So I had a customer inquire about calls routed through his auto attendants are displaying a number in the top left corner of the phone. After doing some digging around I realized that it is displaying the total number of calls 3353 (reported in monitor) on the phone when any transfer happens from an auto attendant. I tested by calling back in and the number increased to 3356 which was the new total of calls. I have not noticed this behavior before (not saying it doesn't always happen just have not noticed it) and he is wondering if it possible to turn it off. I see nothing in Manager or VM Pro client to hide or disable this feature. Is there anyway to remove it? Is it default and happens on all releases?

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

wow it looked like the extension number, try this, turn off display name under options and then turn back on and see if that goes away

Ya when he first told me I thought it was the user's extension. Then I thought maybe it was part of CallerID. It is actually the total calls to system and is changing (and matching the total reported in monitor). I am talking to him tomorrow morning and I will try that. If that does not work I guess I will suggest upgrading IPO and VM Pro to 9.0.12.

let us know as I have never seen or heard about this before

Will do; Glad to see I am not missing something obvious.

IP office standard 9.0.10 which matches the VM pro of 9.0.10.

As suggested by Joe I had customer turn off display name in phone and test same thing. Then turned it back on and tested. I am going to upgrade his IPO and VM Pro to 9.0.12 over the weekend and see if it resolves the issue. I will post back either way.

Are the calls being transferred by the VM if o is there anything in the transfer action that could be doing this?

Do either source of Transfer or Description have an system variables $CID (Call Identifier) might do this

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Sounds and looks to me like the number of missed call entries in the phone's call log. If you go into the call log (press the red-lit button to the left of 7 on they dialpad) and delete all, does the number disappear?

In the older 44xx and 54xx phones, you could go into he phone settings and disable the call log. I'm not sure you can do that with the 14xx and 16xx phones.

Actually, it appears that at least on 10.x (not sure about 9.x) that if you set Centralized Call Log to OFF on the user's Telephony/Call Log tab, that it completely disables the 14xx and 16xx phone's call log button, as well as the display of missed calls. Give it a shot.

Hope this helps,
Jeff

I am setting a custom description tag for the caller (PMR Sales in the case of the screenshot). I would have to look at it again when I get a chance for the $CID. Thanks for the tip I will look into it next time I get connected to his system.

It is not the missed call entries it is the total of amount of calls to the system. I can see this number reported in monitor and in system status in regards to total calls/call ref.

OK... but if all those calls ring this phone, and you've never cleared the call log, I still think it's possible that's what the phone is displaying. Can't hurt to go in to the call log button and delete all, and see if the number disappears (and/or turn off the call log for the user).

All calls do not ring this phone. I can have him try it just to be sure but I do not believe that to be the issue. I am talking to him again tomorrow morning (he has left already for the day) and I will try the supplied suggestions and post back.

My customer called back for an unrelated issue and I decided to look at the auto attendants... Now I feel stupid. IP Guru nailed it completely there were $CID specified. Removing them fixed the issue. Thanks for all the suggestions and pink love for the correct answer.
