We recently installed IP403 v2.1.
Our VM system is setup to call/nofify the user on the their cell phone when their is a VM message.
The problem is that the telephone number displayed on the users cell phone "Call ID Display" is the extact same as the regular office line, so that the user can't tell if it is VM calling or someone from the office calling to speak with them.

I am told by our provider that there is no way to correct this. The VM system simply grabs a line from the "hunt group".

Can anyone provide some advice ??

One solution we thought of was to "reverse" the process. So if someone is calling from the office, they always use a specific line, and hence would display a seperate number.
Any thoughts on this ?

Ps. We are based in Canada.

You could set your voicemail alerts to text your roaming users instead of calling them.

You need to have the voicemail PC on the domain with email capabilities. The system emails a dummy address that is set to forward the email as a text. (A setting your hosting company has to do for you)... (In the UK anyway!!)

Then the user simply uses remote access to get his mail when he is ready to do so.

Your provider is not thinking outside the box. You can do it anyway you like. It sounds like you're on analog - too bad, there is a really slick solution when using PRI. However, for analog you could route your fax line through the system (provide a POTS station port to the fax machine itself), put the faxline in its own linegroup (which you would have to anyway for the faxmachine) and setup so notifications dial out on the faxline. Or for that matter, any 1FL you have onhand that would give a different callerID when dialing from it would suit your purposes. Just create a new shortcode for dialing out on this line (instead of 9) and set that as your outcalling prefix.

Vive la Great White North, eh?

Thanks.
I don't understand the acronym 1FL ?

an analog phone line that is not part of an equiv group (rollover group). A single, plain jane phone number. Your home phone number is a 1FL.

I'm not sure but if you have PRI, couldn't you set the "Source number" to the pager number, then tack on "S8185551234" (whatever your nubmer is for Voicemail)? Would that work?

Kris

That would be the slick solution for PRI I mentioned above :)
