Hi,

I'm trying to configure two ports on my 2950 switch to VLAN2 and the rest will be the default VLAN1. The problem is that under the VLAN1 interface there is a shutdown command. If I submit a no shutdown command on VLAN1 then the shutdown shows up under VLAN2. Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

This is normal behaviour.
The VLAN interfaces on the 29xx are Management interfaces only and only one of them can be up at a time.
It's a layer 2 switch, therefore routing takes place elsewhere (eg. ext. router).

regards,
Alain
