I am currently in the process of designing vlans. I was wanting to know if it would be better to put multi-vlan-acccessed servers on their own vlan and have other vlans travel through router to access them, or just trunk the servers off of a switch using ISL, this way only users on other subnetworks with have to cross the router to access the server.

if you are setting up v-lans and the servers are to be used by all v-lans they have to go through the router no matter what ,to get to the servers from the different v-lans wether you put them together or not. you will need to use ISL for the router to route the vlans.look at cisco web site for more info.hope it helps
