On IPO500 visual voice mail (intuity mode) there is an softkey option labeled "Greeting". What greeting does this record and where is it used? It seems to be a different greeting than the ones used by the system. Also, is there a way to record the user name using visual voice mail. It's pretty confusing that there are three different voice mail access points--all with different functionality:

*17 (or VMCollect): can set name, greetings, but not change email options
Visual voice: cannot set name or greetings, can change email options
Phone manager: can manage greetings (but not record), cannot set name, cannot manage email options, cannot forward a message

Am I missing something or is voicemail options and access just totally fubared? It's so hard to explain to users what access they need to do what.

Goto the user with VisualVoice;

Source number > add Hhuntgroupname (don't forget the H before huntgroupname)

As a rule, I tell the end users to dial *17 to set up their mail box Password, name, and personal greeting. Then they can use the Visual Voice button to chage what ever needs to be changed, password, name etc.

TheDoz,
I do the same thing. I just tested visual voice on my demo system and it works. i could record my greeting change password and turn email on and off.

Question to TheDoz... in VisualVoice how do you change name and personal greeting? On my screen (4.1, intuity voicemail emulation) I have the following options:

Listen: listen to messages
Message: record a message
Greeting: record a greeting that doesn't seem to be used for anything (it's not one of the personal greetings, default is "there is no one available to take your call at tne moment, so please leave your message after the tone")
Email: change email options
Password: change password

Klubar,

I first set up v-mail by dialing *17, enter # if I am at my desk. Default password is #. I enter a new password, record my name. Then I Record my personel greeting. I use greeting 1 and greeting 1 for all calls. Note: Greeting 1 has to be activated for all calls.
In visual voice you can change your password and personal greeting. But the name is changed by dialing *17 and once you get in your mailbox dial 5 and 5 again to re-record your name or dial 5 then 4 once your in your mailbox to change your password. My mistake on my post above.

I tell the cusotmer to do the following
*17 - Change password / Record name for mailbox
Exit
Now go into Visual Voice and press Greeting and record your greeting.
Done.
Through visual voice, the greeting is Greeting#1 for all calls. This keeps it simple for the user.

It is great that there are so many options for greetings but i find it cumbersome for some users that are not savvy when they try to set up the greeting through *17
