User gets a message and after listening to it presses the Call button.

Works fine on local calls but LD calls fail (probably because the 1 does not show up in caller ID)

any way to get the system to enter the "1" on all calls that are not in the local calling area only when using the "Call" button in Visual Voice?

Yes, through ARS, but that can get messy.
However...caller ID *should* be passing the +1 for LD...hell it comes through on my cell phone. Might want to check with the carrier.

would this work? in system short codes/ ARS codes, so number dial (matching the CLI recieved on VV) 222233334444 would be the code, then action Dial, with telephone number 1222233334444?
if you're meant to get the 1 on inbound CLI, and it's analogue trunks, you can use the prefix field to add 1, but that would apply to all calls, incl local, so that won't help... hmmm.
so it has to be outbound substitution with SC's.

Cheers,

Chris

if you set your ARS table up with all of your local numbers, you can put in an entry that tells the system to put the 1 in front of all 10 digit numbers.

Add a short code in the ARS table:
Code: XXXXXXXXXX
Feature: Dial
Telephone Number: 1N
Line Group: whatever you are using for your long distance calls. if you're not routing LD calls to a special line group just use the same one as the other short coeds.

Where I live local area codes are 713, 281 and 832 so the entries 713XXXXXXX, 281XXXXXXX and 832XXXXXXX take precedence over the XXXXXXXXXX entry so your local calls still work. This is assuming you have the Prefix set to 9 on your Line settings so that the system is putting the 9 in for you when you hit callback.
