We are having some issues with Visual Menu Builder. It launches just fine but when I select the correct server for the SQL SA Login box and select connect I get a value of true under connected. But, the continue button remains grayed out. Any info / tips is greatly appreciated.Thanks.

In order for visual menu builder to work with SQL the full set of SQL tools - enterprise manager, sql query analyzer, etc. - must be installed.

I have it all the sql tools installed and enterprise manager works with no problems.

Try reinstalling the Macola client. Does this work from any other workstatiom

VMB doesnt work from any workstation. I have reinstalled the client a few times it didnt have any effect.

Are you trying this from PWE or standard progression? Just a thought.

Standard progression.
PWE is another story , according to some users it has not worked for months.
I have just been tasked with getting it all working (long time systems engineer first time macola user/admin)

PWE hangs on opening files until it times out or the process is killed. It says there is a problem accessing the DB.

My gut says that its a sql permissions issue but im not sure what the default permissions should be.

Check the MacSQL.cfg file in the root of Macola. Verify that the server name is correct and the number of company installed agrees with the actual number of [company_xxx]
The [company_xxx] should only have three numbers (e.g.002). Delete any blank lines. (Backup the config file before you change it)

Any folders or files in the macola root directory that start with "DATA" that are not data compay folders?

In other words you have an old data company folder out there that no longer exist in teh macsql.cfg and db. and for instance a file called dataforme.xls

Also verify that in the Macsql.cfg file, all of the companies listed have valid databases in SQL and valid DATA_xxx folders in the macsql folder.

How many servers show up in the window when trying to access VMB?

Also:
There are 2 servers that show up when trying to access VMB.
The APPSRVR is the correct server and then one that was an old server.

Thanks to all for the help so far. :)

Look at another file called pwe.tam. It's a text file and is in the \macsql\pwe folder. Verify the server name was changed in there as well.

Kevin Scheeler

Thanks Kevin that was it. The PWE.tam file was pointing to the old server. Once I changed it to the new server.. PWE started working again as well as VMB.

Thanks again Kevin and thanks to all that replied.

As an aside your macsql.cfg shows 10 companies but your data directories show 13. You might want to edit your macsql.cfg file accordingly.
