Hey guys,

Got an IP500v2 on 9.1.7, Voicemail Pro with 9608G handsets:

I've got a unique request from a customer of mine. We've got some executives that have assistants with bridged appearances, and the assistants will start a call with their boss, initiate outside calls from their phone and then bridge them on with the execs. The assistants then either stay silent on the call, or create additional calls. The execs are now asking for some sort of visual (not audible) indicator of when their assistant is on the line with them.

I was thinking a User button, but that wouldn't indicate which line the assistant was on. I know one-X Portal would do this as it would show conference participants, but with just VMPro and the handsets I'm drawing a blank. As soon as the call is initiated it will create a conference call - the exec can hit the details button which may work but I'm looking through my options. Ideally we'd like a programmable button as an indicator.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

You can't manipulate or change the way the buttons indicate, it's pre-defined.
Plus what an archaic way of working, I think some folks grew up watching 80s movies and think that's the way it should work now, doesn't happen in this country (that I've ever seen anyway) :)

Safer way if they're really fussed to set up the bosses call on bridged appearance 1, put it on hold. Call the boss using another boss user button and say "your call is on button 1" and hang up. Boss presses their appearance 1. No extra pain for the caller and minion, one extra press for the boss (boo hoo).

Meanwhile the method they are using (if I understood correctly) is creating a conference, big clue is Conf XXX shown on the display. If so Details should show who is still in the call.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

@sizbut, correct about their current method. That's the route that I'm going to tell them. Only issue is that if they initiate the conference call then drop off, it still shows Conf XX on the display.

I think the best bet is for the execs to press "Details" and get a list of who's on the conference call.

@amriddle01 Totally. Unfortunately you know as well as I that customers always want something that's not normal :)
