Visual Foxpro Ver. 60. help file 4

This is a silly question, but...

when I go into VFP, and want to click on help, it is grayed out...I go into the options folder and the area for the Help file is blank...

I can't seem to find the correct file...

can anyone tell me the correct vfp help file name??

I know it's silly but...

The only foxhelp file I find has an extension of .chi.

which does not seem to work..

For my VFP7 it is "e:\program files\microsoft visual foxpro 7\foxhelp.chm"

For my VFP6 it is "c:\program files\microsoft visual studio\msdn98\98vsa\1033\foxhelp.chm". If you don't have this, you might need to reinstall MSDN. As far as I remeber (I didn't reinstall it for a while), help file for VFP6 comes with MSDN, not with FoxPro itself.

You might also want to check settings for your help file. Go to menu Tools -> Options -> File Locations tab; find Help File there and see, where it is pointed, if anywhere, and modify accordingly, if the file actually exists.

You can also try to find Help online on Microsoft site. Try

Although I couldn't find it for VFP6 (doing very quick check), only for VFP7 and VFP8, it is possible that it is hidden somewhere there.

The help file for VFP 6.0 was installed from the MSDN Library CD - there was a special version of it included with both Visual Studio 6.0 and VFP 6.0. In fact it's also on all MSDN library CDs from July 1998 through April 2001 - after that, you'll find the VFP help file included was for 7.0 or 8.0.
