WHEN I OPEN VISUAL FOXPRO 8 HELP
THE CONTENTS TAB SHOWS EVERYTHING AS BEFORE
BUT THE INDEX TAB IS BLANK AND THE
SEARCH TAB DOESNT WORK - I GET A "NO TOPICS FOUND" NO MATTER WHAT I TYPE IN
ADDITIONALLY, ALL MY FAVORITES UNDER THE FAVORITE TAB ARE GONE
IS THERE ANY WAY TO FIX THIS WITHOUT RE-INSTALLING FOXPRO?

(UPGRADING TO VERSION 9 IS NOT AN OPTION)

LOADING THE FOXPRO CHM FILE FROM THE COMMAND LINE GIVES ME THE SAME THING

ANYONE OUT THERE SEEN THIS BEFORE?
THANKS IN ADVANCE, GUYS

is your chm file on a network drive?

Coldbohemia,

Can you please NOT YELL in your posts? And you're yelling even louder by using a BOLD FONT!

In otherwords, stop using all caps and bold. All caps is considered yelling and is considered rude.

sorry craig

-its a habit from having very bad eyesight

ali, thank you for responding

the entire development system
( visual foxpro and all the projects, prgs, etc) are on one pc
and are not visible on the network

only the finished products (exes) and their corresponding data files are available to others, and reside
on a server separate from development programs.

i think this may be a problem only with chms from
microsoft related products

thanks-

re-installed vfp8 and service pack 1 for same.
no difference.
i really think the problem is not with the help file itself, but some other corrupted component of microsoft's
maybe the chm files have some other
corresponding file (like an index)

mike, i tried several chm's from
the command line, all under the program files folder.

these worked:
pcanywhere.chm (pcanywhere)
vxdla.chm (roxio)

i don't use any other app where i need to be referencing the help file
like in vfp, so i couldn't tell you
if the tabs in question are even supposed to show data, as i am in
visual foxpro. i have clients that
also own vfp8, and they can see
content under the index tab (always) , and
when i type the word "copy" under the search tab, i get more than 300 entries.

i still think this is a microsoft issue, and i'm about ready to take a step back from this issue and try again later, unless anybody has any more suggestions.

i'll be checking in again tomorrow.

i really appreciate your support,
people.
thanks...
