I can't seem to fix this error message I keep getting when surfing to various web sites. I've scanned my computer for viruses and adware and either deleted or quarantined them. I've downloaded the visual basic runtime files from download.com and also played with internet options settings to no avail.
Has anyone come across the following and if yes, how did you resolve it? Thanks in advance for any help!

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Just kidding.

The error message you're seeing means Internet Explorer crashed. A lot of things can make it crash. Since there are lots of plugins for IE, both ones you can download and ones that come with it, and any of these crashing can take down IE, it's really hard to tell what is causing it to crash in your case.

It might help if you could say what web sites you're browsing to that are causing IE to crash...

I reinstalled windows xp home and the issue is now gone. There was a toolbar that I couldn't get rid of which may have been the problem. I couldn't uninstall IE v6.0 because it didn't appear under my add/remove programs options.
