Hi,

Does MS still make Visual c++ alone or is it incorporated into c++ .NET or visual studio? In other words, is Visual C++ .NET just a new version of Visual C++ 6.0? OR is it in Visual Studio?

When 3rd party products say they work with Visual C++, does that mean .NET and visual studio also?

All I need is Visual C++, but places only seem to be selling the other two. Is it made and supported?

Thanks!

Visual C++.Net is available separately. You can get it in Standard, Professional or Enterprise editions. I bought the Standard edition on Amazon. It is not just a re-hash of VC++ 6.0 as it requires that you install the .Net components. Be warned, also, that it will not install the .Net prerequisites on Windows XP Home edition. At least it would not on two of my computers.
I have found that I am not using the .Net version since I dislike the interface so I have dropped back to VC++ 6.0. Additionally, most of what I write is for the computers where I work. These are older machines without the .Net framework so (as I understand it) apps written in VC++.Net wpn't run on them anyway.

Visual C++.NET is the next generation of Microsoft Visual C++.
All others .NET languages are languages for the managed code e.g. the applications require .NET Framework (Common Language Runtime (CLR)) to run.
VC++.NET is the only one which allow to build applications as you did with VC++6.0 (processor dependent and do not require .NET Framework to run ) and also managed applications (require .NET Framework).
So, when you buy VS.NET or VC++.NET you already have there everything you know from VC++6.0 and more e.g. the VC++.NET part which is based on the completely new set of classes e.g. this is known as Common Type System (CTS).
