I've been trying to reinstall Visual Studio 6 on an
Windows 200 Professional NT box, but keep getting "xxxxx.ocx was unable to register itself in the System Registry," for dblist32.ocx and comct232.ocx. I've
been using Visual Studio on this pc for over a year
now w/o any trouble. I have tried deleting the ocx's and the associated dependency files (i.e., comcat.dll) and reinstalling. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried taking the references out of the registry and reinstalling. When I try and register them myself I get an ox8002801c error.

Any suggetions?

Hi

Before deleting it, you must unregister to avoid problems:

regsvr32 /u xxx.ocx[dll]

If you deleted before making that, you only can find problems. Don't touch the registry directly.

There is a Ms application, called "Ms RegClean" that makes "Registry analysis and correction". It will clean the registry better.

Good luck!
