I have been using Pagemaker for the last 15 years, and have it installed on three PC's Windows XP and one MAC for my business. I have just brought a Laptop which has Windows Vista and find that i am not able to load it. I have tried InDesign in an earlier version and could not get into it. I assume there is not a way around the problem, and that I need to purchase a conversion programme for pm files to InDesign and a copy of the latest version of InDesign

Anything here?

What about Virtual PC, is that an option?

Make older programs run in this version of Windows

How to troubleshoot a program that does not run as expected after it is installed on Windows Vista

Thanks linney I will have a look through your suggestions over the weekend.
I tried to load both pagemaker 6.5 and my upgrade to 7 and the laptop said no.
Re Virtual PC, I had not heard of that but did wonder if there was such a thing as I can do that on my MAC
The only problem my new Laptop has Vista Home Premium which is not listed in system requirements, so I have a few things to look at
Many thanks SOG61

They said the same about XP Home and Virtual Machine, but people have successfully tried it on that too. There is other software such as Vmware, I think they have a free version too.

Hi Linney

Finally managed to get things sorted out, I had to upgrade to Vista Ultimate, and then managed to get Virtual PC to work. I have now loaded Pagemaker and it appears OK. The only problem is that I cannot find out if I can enlarge the page as it will only appear in the centre of the screen, which is a bit small for some work, I assume this is the total area that Virtual is allowed. Still thank heavens for small mercies
Many thanks for your advice

You should (I easily can) be able to make the Virtual PC full screen size (assuming it is the Microsoft version). I just use the Action Tab and then select Full screen. Have you installed the Virtual Machine "Additions"? If not, then do so.

If it is Pagemaker that refuses to go full screen, I can't help you much with that application as I have never used it.
