Problem: Intermittent audio crackle, breakdown, when streaming audio/video via web, listening to cd, or just windows .wav files playing. This crackle will happen on the built-in speakers or via the headset.

Running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 (SP1)
on my HP Pavilion dv9700 Notebook PC (dv9907ca)

Sound card is Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221
Driver 4.36.7.60 04/03/2008 (latest driver available on support.hp.com)

Believe it or not, I disabled 802.11a band on my wireless ethernet card and it solved the problem. Here is my card and driver:
Broadcom 4322AG 802.11a/b/gfraft-n Wi-Fi Adapter
Driver 4.170.77.3 21/03/2008 (latest driver available on support.hp.com)

Procedure to disable 802.11a:
Start, Computer, System Properties, Advanced System Settings, Hardware Tab, Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, rick click on Broadcom, properties, Advanced Tab - Property - Disable Bands = "Disable 802.11a", OK.
