Working with non-profit and no money, we have a network of 5 with xp home. have to buy a new computer. it will come with a free upgrade to vista. can I network vista with xp home if the vista cpu acts as the client/server? How many coneections will it allow?

Vista and XP home network

You can network vista with xp home - haven't checked on allowed connections, but would suspect it will be same as XP (so bottom 2 versions probably allow 5 connections, top 2 probably allow 10). I'll post back if I find out (and nobody else does!)
Simultaneous SMB peer network connections - 5 Home Basic, 10 Home Premium, 10 Business, 10 Ultimate, 10 Enterprise.

linney, nice link and nice info document, but I still can't find the answer you so graciously supplied. But you're telling me that, like xp, vista will have a home version that will allow 5 connections, and not 1 but 3 other versions which will allow 10 like xp pro??

It is also mentioned in that Vista Guide, but there again so is everything else. I found it in there by searching the document for "connections".
