Hello all,

I have Windows Vista ultimate set up on my laptop. When I try to copy large (anything over about 50MB) to a network share I receive the following error:

There is a problem accessing C:\users\...path to file
Make sure you are connected to the network and try again.

This particular file is on my C: drive and trying to copy to a windows server. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas? thanks.

Hey,
No disk quotoas are being used. I went through some of the links you provided and nothing yet, I will keep searching. Thanks for the help so far!

Have you tried the basic run of the mill stuff like Disk Cleanup, Defrag and ChkDsk on the machines concerned?

Is it a problem reading the file on your laptop or writing the file on the shared drive?

I didn't try any of the disk cleanup stuff since I can't copy large files to any windows servers. And it is from my Vista laptop to windows servers. Thanks for the help so far!!

I have to wonder if this could be a network hardware issue. Cable, hub/switch, etc. Have you done any testing to exclude this possibility? - different cable w/same computer, different computer with same cable, etc.

There is a problem accessing C:\users", that suggest to me that the problem may be on your Laptop if that is the C:\users referenced in the error message?

Can you copy this file to a USB, CD, or DVD on your Laptop?

Do you have any further clues in your Event Viewer?

Can you try "Safe Mode with Networking" and successfully copy this large file to a Server?
