Hi Folks,
I have a guy here at work who has a Visioneer 4800USB Scanner, which yes is dead cheap and as such is replaceable, but... it is not working right, and rather than give the guy the bad news, i'd love to be able to fix it for him.
the error I am getting is:
"An error occured during preview. If the scanner is being used, please wait for it to complete the task, and then click Preview" nothing else is running on the XP Pro machine, and no other scanners have been installed.
it seems to be detected by the OS okay, and the drivers install okay.
I have had a looksie on the Manufacturers website and the only bit relevent to this error ( ) I have run though, and the problem is still there.
The scanner makes some noises and the "scanner head" moves forwards about half an inch twice, between clicking the preview button and this error being displayed.
the light emitted from the tube seems to be a pinkish [/color magenta]colour - not ever seeing this scanner working, I am unsure if it is normal - as all other flatbed scanners I have seen are either bright white or green (for B&W Scanners)
this pinkish colour might indicate that the tube is broken, but I'd really like someone who knows to confirm that to me.
Thanks for any help
Gary
