Does anyone have a resolution to the problem with Visio 2002 and the Fetch behavior? We are able to download and open Visio files, or they will render HTML when 'Viewed', however, when we try to Fetch them (in the native app), we receive a 'Page cannot be displayed' error.

TIA,

Is it defined in your opentext.ini under the viewablemime types actually a misnomer since if you want fetch to happen you have to put them in the viewable minetypes.what does specific for the visio doc show

does the above link give you some clues.If it doesn't
it is time to debug and look at your thread logs

Thanks appnair,

The following is in the ViewableMimeTypes section of the ini file:

MimeType_11=application/vsd

And this is the entry in the mime.types file:

application/vnd.visio vsd vss vst vsw

Some background:
Prior to some security patches being pushed down on our network to update the Office programs (including Visio), the Fetch functionality worked fine - opening the file in the local instance of Visio.

We currently are allowing HTML rendition as a work-around for our customers that don't want to download the files - but I don't like having it configured this way due to the potential size of Visio files - too much drag on the system.

Your thoughts?

TIA

My setting is more like this opentext.ini
Code:
MimeType_28=application/vnd.visio
MimeType_31=application/vsd

In mime.types it is like this
application/vnd.visio
application/vsd                vsd

I don't rememebr this it has been some time
Try this and see if it works restarting every time you change stuff.

Is the file association on the client computer set correctly
to launch visio?If you double click a vsd does it automatically launch visio
There has been some confusion on IE and windows XP,losing
credentials etc which can be found in KB.

It has been working for us without trouble(touch wood)

Hey All,

We experience this issue only in more recent verions of 'certain' MS products; Visio and Project for example. 2000 versions are fine, but 2002-2003 are not. Additionally the newer programs request Client Authentication, which I believe is a pointer to the issue at hand. Perhaps the Browser is dropping this info when it hands off to the app. The new apps are seeking this and if it's not found then issues present themselves.

Peace,
NZ

That's been exactly our experience - no problem with the 2000 versions, just the newer versions. We are also seeing the Client Authentication dialog asking user to select a certificate to use, but none are listed.

Sooo, what's the solution?

Cheers,
Jminn

there is a known thread in livelink faq at kb regarding similar lines but i was thinking it had to be on the os side.i saw something being said about windows xp and authentication being lost handing over several layers of ms apps

Many thanks,
