Can Indesign 2.0 (Windows XP) be set to default to invisible rectangles for hyperlinks, rather than visible ones?

Thanks

Suzanne

As far as I know, the visible rectangle is the default which cannot be changed. I could find no way to change this, using ID2.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

shame - wondered whether it might be the flicking in and out of this that was causing the crash. ah well.

Are you running any other apps concurrently when this happens, say Norton AV? If so, what happens if you disable the AV?

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

You can't change the default of visible rectangles...but, the option is sticky. Once you create a hyperlink and change that option, it should remain the default for that document.

May have found some kind of solution - if I use 'create new hyperlink' the invisible rectangle option does stick, and the freezing doesn't seem to happen. If I use 'create hyperlink from url' the rectangle option doesn't stick, and the freezing happens on particular urls. Could be something in the url I gues - they are quite long links. So I'll just have to get out of the habit of using the second option. Thanks lots for your help.

You may have hit on something. There may be some sort of unintentional limit to the number of characters in a URL in the hyperlink. Something to play with...

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Something else I found - I think I was pulling in odd spaces after the urls. When I stopped this it seemed to settle again. Maybe a combination.
