Hi,

I would be grateful if anyone could help me out with the following :-

Having installed EPO 2.0, and successfully pushing the agent out to a number of test clients, all but one has managed to pull down Virus Scan 4.51.

The client in question appears in the Server Event Viewer stating that the agent has reached the install retry limited on this machine.

Having checked, disk space is not a problem.

Any ideas ...????

Cheers

Remove the agent then re-install. This happens in 2.0. Upgrade to 2.5.1 SP1 of ePO. This should go away.

... take my advice, I don't use it anyway!

Hi AVUser,

If you try uninstalling the agent and it still refuses to install VirusScan 4.5.1, here's something I cam across some of my NT 4 machines, which I am not sure if this is applicable to your situation.

Check the Event Viewer at the client workstation and see if you can find an MSInstaller entry or errors around the time of your deployment. On some of my PCs, the Windows Installer installation was corrupted and it leaves a message in the Event Viewer. If you do see an error related to Windows Installer, go to Microsoft's Knowledge Base and do a search for the error message you have listed.

It has something to do with renaming a file temporarily, reinstalling Windows Installer, renaming the file back to the original name, and then carrying out the installation of the desired software.

Good luck!

Thanks for your help AVChap and Victorysabre.

The problem however turned out to be an entry in the registry for Virus Scan TC, which had been unistalled.

Once this was removed everything was ok.

Many Thanks
