Would anyone care to discuss you virus protection selections for MS-Exchange 5.5?

What product are you using?

Why did you choose it?

Would you do it again?

Any particular horror stories?

My company is installing an Exchange 5.5 system. We're starting up with McAfee GroupShield because we're licensed for it. However we're open to other products and would like to find the best.

Okay.. Having used multiple products at multiple sites.. here's a good run down.

Trend ScanMail
-Not terrible difficult to update, install, BUT Trend is doggin' on getting their IDEs out to the public.
-GUI breaks way too often. Service packs can stop Real-Time Monitor. Other tweaks have broken auto-updating (we do hourly), or remote management.
-Have had plenty of virus get through despite hourly updates.

Sophos MailMonitor
-Used the SMTP gateway briefly. Tough to install if you need to fiddle firewall and such. However, Sophos has the most timely IDE release and notification system. They are far ahead of their competitors on that. Unfortunately, unless your Ex2K, SMTP monitor can be painful to install and run.

Antigen
-Not a bad product. Biggest plus is that is uses multiple engines to scan mail for the smallest cost.. so you never rely on any single provider for AV updates. The GUI could be a bit more straightforward in the setup and mointoring, but overall it's better than Trend.
