Hi - I would appreciate any recommendations for virus protction (and the related costs) for both 2003 and 2000 server.

Thanks!...Chris

NOD32 is supposed to be fantastic and has a very small footprint, i've seen it in action and it's so much lighter than Symantec or Sophos. As soon as our Symantec contract is up we'll be moving to this.

Dont't get me wrong about Symantec their management tools and remote deployment are very good but the corp client is heavy on older systems.

Symantec Antivius Corporate Edition v 10+ is the best I have used. It is reliable and has all the tools for an Enterprise. The pricing is also good for the Small Business Edition, which is exactly the same as Enterprise.

BTW, if you do SAV v10, make sure you get the update for version 2.200. The version 1.100 has a memory leak with the real-time scanning. The non-paged pool tag for NTFS tie-in leaves a leak. The "200" version takes care of it.

I used the Mcaffee SBE varient about 2 years ago. Client was superb; but the ePO3 Management tool was really poor.

Use eTrust here without any problems. Small and lightweight, no management really needed as it's a pretty locked down client anyway and you can push out update if there is anything urgent. (Beyond your hourly / daily / weekly update schedule).

Highly recommended.

We use NAV 10.0 as well and I pretty happy with. As mentioned earlier the memory leaks issues were a hassle for awhile but they have since been fixed and it's running smoothly.

The nice thing about this setup is that it also searches from spyware.

How good it is I'm not sure. We still have Adaware Enterprise running for spyware but it's just another layer.
